Fight of the mismatched gardens

April 10, 2007

Now that our garden is starting to swing, we've been enjoying opportunities to make our own bouquets. Every night there are fresh, fragrant, sweet flowers on the table for us to enjoy. So fantastic and domestic!

For Easter this year, I decided to give my mom, my dad, and my sister each a bouquet from our garden. There were about 6-8 flowers in each gift and I wrapped them in quaint brown paper, tied with a pink ribbon. So sweet! The downside was that it was hard to come up with enough flowers to give to all three of them - but in the end, they understood that gardens are limited and it's not easy to create something more dramatic than a little fist of pink petals.

To give you a visual...this is what our garden arrangements look like:

Cute, isn't it?

So you can understand what I must have been thinking when I met my dad for Easter dinner and he showed up bearing slightly larger bouquets for each of us; flowers he also arranged from his own garden.

I'm not saying my flowers look lame or anything. They just look like a two year old in the ring with a heavyweight champion.

Botanical slaughter.
