Last night, during a wispy tangerine sunset, I went in my backyard to check on our blossoming garden. On the lip of our hillside, we dug four holes big enough to each fit one flower pot containing nasturtium or anemone (x2). For the past week, we've been watching the first anemone bloom shoot up out of the leaves and slowly unfurl. It's been delightful.
On my little jaunt last night, I saw the anemone in it's full bloom for the first time. My instinct was to run inside and get the camera so I could boast about it on this blog. However, I was feeling lazy and I told myself I'd photograph it this morning instead.
I just went outside and the anemone was hacked at the stem and one of our pots of nasturtium was completely dismantled by a gofer. Our babies laid to waste and rubbish.
How quickly things change. How easily we assume their permanence, not really appreciating the transient nature of everything. When an opportunity comes, grab it. When a moment is beautiful, cherish it. When things are good or when things are bad, know that you're just passing through a circumstance and appreciate that you'll never be in this moment again.
Realizing that you are a traveler through your life, moving in inevitable cycles, is a good way to feel less attached to the past or to the future. Simply embrace what you have right. now.

We planted bulbs before the fall came and I'm eagerly waiting for spring to see them bloom. Of course, I'm not a fan of weeding, so we'll see how long it lasts.
By the way, I couldn't help but notice you have My Brightest Diamond on your music list. They recorded a Daytrotter session a little while ago that you can find the link for on their page - it's a really great performance.
