Funny thing. Last night I went to a gathering and met someone who asked a heart question. After learning that we both work in home studios, he stopped and asked me, Do you get lonely?
Why, yes. Yes, I do. In fact, loneliness is one of the most pervasive emotions in my day.
It was such a memorable question - one that only someone else working at home could know to ask. Usually people will ask if it's easy to get distracted with television and chores...but it's not. It's much harder to distract myself than it is to work. The next part of our conversation wasn't about the depression of loneliness, which maybe some people would think is inevitable - instead, we talked about how loneliness is a springboard for creation...again, a level of conversation not usually found upon meeting new people.
In case you've ever wondered, loneliness is one of the primary reasons why I write in this blog. You, the digital people I may or may not know in real life, are sometimes the only people I talk with in a day (besides Kevin). It's a joy to poke my fingers through the computer screen and know that I'm connecting with you. Sometimes I marvel at the wonderful indulgence of it all. Thank you for being here.

I find that in times of loneliness I'm more prone to writing in my own blog, as well. Knowing others in the vast expanse of the internet are reading my thoughts is indeed a comforting thing.
I'm here, and I remain connected. :)
