As soon as we got on the freeway, we hit a wall of cars. Driving 10 miles took about a half hour. The traffic eventually let up a bit, but it never really cleared altogether.
By the time we arrived at the party, we were loopy and itchy to dance or jump or climb a tree. However, as you might expect, we were severely late and people were saying their goodbyes. We only stayed for about a half hour before turning around and driving back home. The drive home? How surprised are you to hear that the highway was a parking lot? Again.
In all, we spent 8-9 hours in our car in order to spend 30 minutes saying hello to a friend. It was a weird and unexpected way to spend the day. It was a road trip that led to nowhere...a perfect plot for a no-budget film. In the end - my advice is to check Mapquest before accepting an invitation to anywhere and for goodness sake, drive a Hybrid. The trip only used a half a tank of gas.
I know you're totally jealous.

My dad's looking for a new car. I'm trying to talk him into buying a Hybrid.
