A few days ago I finished one of the biggest projects of this quarter. I composed a score for a short film.
It was my first job as a film composer, and I was thrilled by the whole thing. It was like playing in watercolors for a few months. I had to re-train myself to notate what I write; how to coordinate music with picture and characters; how to make the director happy. It was a fun exercise in creating a different kind of music.
For two months, I would sit every day with my notebook open and just scribble out melodies. In the end, I presented about 40 different musical movements for the director to choose from. Then, in recording the score, I just rode a tidal wave of music - a day of bliss and sunshine, wherein I gave dimension to the voice of the film. For a former film student and current musician, it was the perfect marriage.
The film (Love) is still in post production right now - and it probably won't be showing in any festivals for a few months yet, but I'll keep you posted when it has screenings.
That's one huge X off my list of things to-do by March 31. ROCK ON.

I'd been wondering about this project. Are there any plans to release the score in some sort of cd format?
I can't wait to see it!
