We're little creative ships, passing in the night...somewhere around 3-5am, usually...each with an extreme preference for time of day.
It's tremendously uncool for a musician to be an early riser. It's even worse if the early rising isn't due to some sort of trendy and tortured insomnia - but due to an early bedtime. While everyone else is out at the club, cuttin' in the studio, or drinking at the bar, I'm in my jammies dreaming about rabbits and Amanda Palmer.
It wasn't always this way, and sometimes I wish I could be a night owl again so I wouldn't feel the continual ridicule for being a morning-person freak, but for right now, nothing feels better than waking up in the dark, shuffling around in that dormant, creative hour and begin to stretch my thoughts across the room.
If I threw a 3am party to celebrate early rising (think: cocktail party but with coffee, morning breath, and fuzzy slippers) would it just be a party of one?
Heavy sigh
Oh, if you only knew the bliss you are missing.

girl, i would come to your 3 am party!
