Rabbit watching

August 15, 2006

We awoke this morning to a coyote traipsing through our hillside. Though he was trying to make a shy exit, his gangly trot rustled our shrubs. It's a rare day to have an encounter like this. Recently, the coyotes have been scarce - which means that I'm one step closer to witnessing my dream...an infestation of rabbits. Some days, there are rabbits just a-hoppin' through our yard, crouching in the grass, nibbling on the green, and frolicking in our dusty hill. Whenever I catch them outside, I stay by the window, to watch what they'll do next. The alternating Chewing - - Sniffing - - Freeze! is a fascinating pattern. Some people watch birds. Not me. I'm all about the secret lives of ordinary rabbits.

There seems to be an abundance of rabbits surrounding Mark's apartment complex. We are constantly trying to spot them!

The other day while getting the mail, we saw two raccoons walking single fiel down the sidewalk like good pedestrians.
