This is the First Entry of the Rest of My Life

February 28, 2006

In case you missed the memo, in these writings, Terami whines, she complains, she obsesses, and she refers to herself in the third person. And it's precious. You like it.

Though, I'm afraid you were so dazzled by my stunning mastery of The Whine, The Complaint, and The Obsession, that you overlooked that fact that the original home of this blog (Entropy29.com) was seriously sucking. It began, not as The Seriously Sucky Website, but as a Timid Young Journal, politely keeping you up to date on the news and updates surrounding my recording project.

Then, like all young things, it grew out of its bonnet, took up breakdancing, and hit its pimply adolesence with gangly abandon. Stunted by my severe lack of PHP programming knowledge, it had no search function, no archive structure, and no flexibility whatsoever. The more I wrote, the less desirable it became, its untamed leg hair snagging along the asphalt in an oblivious spectacle.

The designer in me was partying with the non-linear OCD freak in me, and all together we were screaming, THIS SUCKS.

So, six months ago, I bought a license for Movable Type with the intention of migrating my entries to a new home that would finally be blog-a-licious. Only trouble was the programming limitations that plagued me earlier, followed me here. CSS was making my brain buzz. And this whole blog thing sounded like a bad idea. I eventually gave up on the whole enterprise, but I started to have dreams about The Ghost of My Abandoned Blog.

Sidenote: Do you ever have dreams where you're stuck in a redundant task that you were doing in your waking life? Kevin and I call these dreams "Computer Dreams". Three guesses why.

My dreams for the last six months have been a swirling, neverending computer dream. And earlier this month, I began doing Su Doku puzzles, so now the dreams are about about formatting CSS and tables inside of 9 boxes. For the obvious sake of my sanity, I HAD to finish programming this project.

Last week, I finally figured it out. Really, it's so simple, a second-grader could master it. I was just having a brain lock. In other words, 'twas I who was sucking all along.

So here it is. My shiny, new blog. Terami, Myself, and I thank you for reading it.

Oh thank god it's not just me! I do html in my sleep all the time.

Love the new home, it's very spanky.
