On a whim, Sunday night we attended "Shadowplay in Toyland" - a Balinese shadow puppet performance. It was an incredibly delightful show...full of humor and spectacle. The actors interacted with the shadow puppets as they enacted stories by Hans Christian Anderson and the Brothers Grimm.
At one point, a woman decorated as a white horse came out...ON STILTS. I flipped out so completely, instantly becoming a 6 year old girl at the circus. I haven't felt that sense of delight and surprise in years and years and years.
Note to self: stop being such a grown-up.
