As much as I dream - and I dream in technicolor with deep enough plots to satisfy Aristotle - I rarely have lucid sleep experiences. But this morning, I had a doozy. It was ripe with Alice in Wonderland imagery (a hidden hole in the ground, changing physical sizes, following animals...) but the most entertaining part was the dream-within-a-dream part. (I can't say "dream-within-a-dream" without thinking "dweem-wiffina-dweem" from Princess Buttercup's marriage to Prince Humperdink. Forgive me.)
But yesterday, Kevin and I went outside to play with the kittens and Trey had a reptile skin in his mouth. Upon inspection, I think it was a lizard skin - not the tail of a snake. But I can't be sure. He batted it around for a long time, eventually chewing it down like a doggie treat.
So my dream involved a gigantic lizard emerging from a previously unseen cave in our backyard to hunt the kittens. It all made perfect sense at the time.
Although I'm the one with the loopy reality, it's actually Kevin who's been spiking a high fever since Monday. I haven't spent much time on anything other than nursing him - which I think I'm doing pretty well. But the bummer is that the TV show he's working on is going to premiere on Sunday and he hasn't been in to work all week to share in the excitement at the office. But, that won't deter us. We're still excited at home about the show. And I think you should watch, if you can: The Girls Next Door on E!. On the West Coast, it's on at 9pm. The show's website.
Goes to show you, there's all different sorts of reality. Some involve bunnies and some involve lizards. I'm still waiting for my tide to turn.
