I'm not a big fan of stress. In fact, I'd go as far as to say stress is my least favorite thing on earth, just shy of bad pick up lines and death.
These days, however, I am under attack by this vicious problem. I can't look at my shoe closet and not flip out over whether I should wear my Cons or my Sketchers. Cons or Sketchers? CONS or SKEEEEETCHERS??
It's especially lame to have stress when it's over something as microscopically silly as "Are my vocals too soft? How do the toms feel? Those backing vocals are sounding goofy, dontcha think?"
Wouldn't you agree that my stress would be much better spent on things like, "How will the Iraqi vote turn out? How are the citizens of Southeast Asia doing? And am I contributing enough to the world to make me a worthy person?"?
So, this morning, it hit me that we only have 3 songs left to mix. AND THEY BETTER BE GOOD.
Then it hit me that this album will wrap up mixing THIS WEEK.
Then it dawned on me I'll need to Master the record SOON - and Mastering Cinches The Deal.
And then I need to design the cover.
And then I need to design the website.
And then I need Manufacture the album and all its promotional swag.
And then.
And then.
And then...
...the list goes on. I'm only one person. I'm starting to realize that.
So I'd really like to offer my appreciation for all the wonderful, hard-working, creative, inspiring artists who are of the do-it-yourself cloth, in all the shapes and sizes that phrase embraces. We are legion. But those who have enriched my life through music, friendship, or the combination of the two, especially, thank you.
