Travelers

November 08, 2004

We hit the road over the weekend and surprised my friend up in San Francisco at her birthday party. Pause for a minute. Think about things. Who are your friends? Who do you drive six hours to see for only about 12 hours of visiting...when 8 of those hours are spent asleep?

I'm happy that I have friends I love so much that a trip to see them is not an imposition or an illogical use of the weekend.

I've met some amazing people in the last few years of music-making. Musicians and listeners alike, I feel like my world is more meaningful because I know you. But I'm equally thrilled and surprised by the friends I've had my whole life... When I wonder who I've been and where I've come from, they are the compass. They are the witnesses to my existence. There's much comfort in that. I hope and wish for everyone reading this that you know the warmth of love and good friends to share it with.
