Many songs written. Um. Many songs rejected.
"Scorpio" might be the first song to get cut from the list, but it's not going to be the last. "1984" joins it along with "Empty", "To Be You", "Mary Jane", and "Giants".
I'm still holding on to
"Intoxicated on Words"
"Astronaut"
"Coming Around"
"You Can Never Go Back"
and "Roadside".
My writing has changed. There's a huge difference between what I wrote a few months ago and what I'm writing now. The original concepts of connection and family aren't grabbing me anymore.
Production ideas are changing too. We keep re-recording songs like it will somehow salvage them, but the meaning is lost for me now. Somehow, this is morphing into another album about relationships. I'm working on some new songs but maybe they're too folk/pop. ?? Too gentle. I hate that.
So, needless to say, I'm still optimistic about a late summer release, but the deadline is breathing down my neck more and more.
